My Approach

Where science meets Spirit

Lasting change doesn't come from willpower alone. My prescriptions draw on the strongest evidence in occupational science and behavior change — and they're inspired by my own Christian faith and the conviction that we are renewed from the inside out. My services are open and welcoming to everyone, whatever your background or beliefs.

Balance

Model of Human Occupation

Change flows through volition (what motivates you), habituation (your habits and roles), and performance capacity. We assess all three and redesign your routines around what matters most.

Function

Habit Science

Implementation intentions and context-cued repetition — small actions tied to existing daily cues — are among the best-supported strategies for making new behavior automatic.

Wellness

Spirituality at the Core

Occupational science places spirituality at the very center of the person. Meaning, identity, and faith aren't extras — they're the engine of sustainable transformation.

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."Romans 12:2

Good Questions

Frequently asked questions

What happens in the free consultation?
It's a relaxed 20–30 minute virtual conversation — no forms marathon, no sales pressure. We talk about your goals, health history, current routines, and what you want daily life to feel like. I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right fit and recommend a path forward, whether or not that path is with me.
Do I need any yoga experience?
None at all. Every routine is built from scratch around your current ability, from chair-based movement to more advanced practice. If you can breathe, you can start.
Who do you typically work with?
Adults recovering from injury, people living with neurological conditions like Parkinson's disease or stroke, older adults focused on balance and fall prevention, and anyone — of any age or ability — who wants to rebuild their daily habits and routines for better health.
Are sessions virtual or in person?
The free consultation is always virtual, so you can join from anywhere. Ongoing services can be virtual or, depending on your location in Southern California, in person. We'll figure out what works best in your consultation.
Is this medical occupational therapy? Will insurance cover it?
Whole Living with Nikki offers wellness, movement, and coaching services — education and prevention, not medical treatment, so it isn't billed through insurance. You get the knowledge and clinical judgment of a doctorally trained, licensed OT in a flexible wellness format. If your situation calls for skilled medical OT, I'll tell you and help point you in the right direction.
Do I have to share your faith to work with you?
Not at all. My services are open and welcoming to everyone, whatever your background or beliefs. My faith shapes how I care for people; it's never a requirement for the people I care for. Faith integration is available if it's meaningful to you — and simply not part of your plan if it isn't.
How often will we meet, and how long until I see change?
Most clients start weekly or every other week, then taper as routines take hold. Habit research suggests new behaviors typically become automatic over roughly 6–10+ weeks of consistent practice, and many people feel meaningful momentum within the first month. Your plan and timeline are personalized in your consultation.
How much do services cost?
Pricing depends on the service and package we design together, and I'll walk you through options transparently in your free consultation — before you commit to anything. The consultation itself is completely free, with no obligation.
